David J. Sirota (born November 2, 1975) is an American journalist, author, and screenwriter. He is known for his work as a columnist at The Guardian and editor for Jacobin. Sirota is also a television writer and political commentator, as well as a nationally syndicated newspaper columnist and blogger. In addition, he serves as a radio host and is based in Denver. Sirota gained further recognition when he joined the Bernie Sanders 2020 presidential campaign as a senior advisor and speechwriter. In 2022, he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay for the Netflix film, 'Don't Look Up,' which he co-wrote with Adam McKay. Sirota is also the founder of independent investigative news outlet, The Lever (formerly The Daily Poster).
