David Wu
David Wu (born April 8, 1955) is an American politician and former U.S. representative for OR's 1st congressional district from 1999 to 2011. He is a member of the Democratic Party. Wu, who was born in Taiwan and immigrated to the United States as a child, became the first Taiwanese American to serve in the House of Representatives. In 2011, following resolution of the debt ceiling crisis and allegations of an unwanted sexual encounter, Wu announced his resignation from office. A special election was held in 2012 to fill the vacancy. Since his resignation, Wu has remained in the Washington, D.C. area and has been involved in fundraising for local Democratic parties.
