Dawn Wells

Dawn Wells (October 18, 1938 – December 30, 2020) was an American actress known for her role as Mary Ann Summers in the sitcom Gilligan's Island. Born in Reno, Nevada, Wells attended Reno High School and later Stephens College in Missouri, majoring in chemistry. She then transferred to the University of Washington, graduating with a degree in theater arts and design. In 1959, she was crowned Miss Nevada and represented the state in the Miss America 1960 pageant. Wells began her acting career with appearances on The Roaring 20's and in the film The New Interns. She also appeared in various television series. Wells will always be remembered for her iconic role on Gilligan's Island.
