Debra Eisenstadt Biography
Debra Eisenstadt is an American writer, director, producer, and editor. She started her career as an actress, notably starring in the theater and film versions of David Mamet's Oleanna alongside William H. Macy. Eisenstadt has written, produced, directed, shot, and edited the feature film Daydream Believer, which won an Independent Spirit Award and The Grand Jury Prize at the Slamdance Film Festival. She has also helmed three other independent features: The Limbo Room (starring Melissa Leo and Peter Dinklage), Before the Sun Explodes, and Blush (starring Wendi McLendon-Covey). Eisenstadt has worked as a writer and director for Nickelodeon, as well as a script doctor and teacher. She served as an executive producer for the acclaimed documentaries Moonage Daydream (2022), Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck, and Jane, a 2017 documentary about Jane Goodall. In 2019, Eisenstadt wrote and directed the film Imaginary Order, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.
