Debra Monk Biography
Debra Monk is an American actress, singer, and writer, born on February 27, 1949, in Middletown, Ohio. She gained recognition for her performances on the Broadway stage, earning a Tony Award for her role in Redwood Curtain in 1993. Monk also won an Emmy Award for her guest appearances on NYPD Blue between 1998 and 1999. She was voted 'Best Personality' by her graduating class at Wheaton High School in Silver Spring, Maryland, and went on to graduate from Frostburg State University in 1973. In 1975, she received a Master of Fine Arts from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. Monk has also co-written and co-starred in the musical Pump Boys and Dinettes (1982) and has been nominated for several Tony Awards throughout her career.
