Denis Villeneuve Biography
Denis Villeneuve (born October 3, 1967) is a Canadian filmmaker known for his critically acclaimed films. He has won the Canadian Screen Award for Best Direction four times for his films Maelström (2001), Polytechnique (2009), Incendies (2010), and Enemy (2013). These films also received accolades including the Canadian Screen Award for Best Motion Picture and recognition from the Toronto Film Critics Association. Internationally, Villeneuve has directed notable thrillers like Prisoners (2013) and Sicario (2015), as well as science fiction films including Arrival (2016) and Blade Runner 2049 (2017). Arrival earned him his first Academy Award nomination for Best Director. In December 2019, he was honored with the Director of the Decade award by the Hollywood Critics Association. His latest film, Dune (2021), premiered at the 78th Venice International Film Festival.
