Dervla Kirwan (born 24 October 1971) is an Irish actress known for her versatile performances across film and television. She gained recognition for her roles in popular BBC series such as Goodnight Sweetheart (1993–1996) and Ballykissangel (1996–1998), for which she won a National Television Award. Kirwan has also appeared in acclaimed productions like Ondine (2009) and the RTÉ thriller series Smother (2021–2023), earning her two IFTA Awards. Her other notable TV appearances include Hearts and Bones (2000–2001), 55 Degrees North (2004–2005), True Dare Kiss (2007), Material Girl, and The Silence (both 2010). Kirwan showcased her talent with a guest appearance in the Doctor Who Christmas special 'The Next Doctor' (2008). Born in Churchtown, Dublin, Kirwan comes from a family with a background in insurance and education.
