Des'ree, born Desirée Annette Weekes on November 30, 1968, is an English pop recording artist known for her hits in the 1990s. She gained popularity with songs like 'Feel So High,' 'You Gotta Be,' 'Life,' and 'Kissing You' from the Romeo + Juliet soundtrack. Des'ree received the Brit Award for Best British female solo artist at the 1999 Brit Awards. Born in Croydon, South East London, her mother is from British Guiana (now Guyana) and her father is from Barbados. Des'ree was signed by Sony 550 in 1991 after her boyfriend sent a demo to the label. Her debut single, 'Feel So High,' was released in August 1991 and reached #13 in the UK charts upon re-release.
