Dev Patel Biography
Dev Patel is a British actor born on April 23, 1990 in Harrow. He gained recognition for his role as Anwar Kharral in the E4 teen drama Skins (2007). Patel's breakthrough came with his leading role as Jamal Malik in the drama film Slumdog Millionaire (2008), earning him a nomination for the British Academy Film Award for Best Actor. He further expanded his career with notable roles in films such as The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2011), The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2015), and Chappie (2015). Patel also appeared in the HBO series The Newsroom (2012–2014). He won a British Academy Film Award for his performance in Lion (2016), and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Patel has since starred in films including Hotel Mumbai (2018), The Personal History of David Copperfield (2019), and The Green Knight (2021).
