DeWanda Wise

DeWanda Wise is an American actress known for her roles in various television series and films. Born on May 30, 1984, in Jessup, Maryland, Wise was raised in Woodlawn, Laurel, and Baltimore. She discovered her passion for acting during her high school years and continued to pursue it throughout her education. Wise graduated from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts with a bachelor's degree in fine arts in drama and urban studies. She gained recognition for her role in Spike Lee's Netflix comedy-drama series She's Gotta Have It, which was a contemporary adaptation of Lee's 1986 film. Wise has also appeared in popular shows like Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, The Good Wife, and Boardwalk Empire.
