    Desmond D'andrea Dickerson, born on August 7, 1955, is an American guitarist and singer known for his role as a member of Prince's band, the Revolution. Hailing from Minneapolis, Minnesota, Dickerson joined Prince's band in 1979 after answering an advertisement in a local entertainment paper. He showcased his talent during a 15-minute audition, securing the position as the guitarist. In 1980, during a break from touring, Dickerson underwent a conversion experience and embraced Christianity, which led to his discomfort with performing songs with sexual themes. Despite his growing popularity and success with Prince, Dickerson desired to leave the band. He also contributed to Prince's side projects, such as writing songs for Vanity 6 and the Time.
