Lila Diane Sawyer, born on December 22, 1945, is an American television broadcast journalist. She is known for anchoring major programs on two networks, including ABC World News Tonight, Good Morning America, 20/20, and Primetime newsmagazine during her time at ABC News. Sawyer also hosted CBS Morning and became the first woman correspondent on 60 Minutes while working at CBS News. Before her journalism career, she served on U.S. President Richard Nixon's White House staff and contributed to his post-presidency memoirs. Currently, Sawyer is involved with ABC News, where she produces documentaries and interview specials. She was born in Glasgow, Kentucky, and her family later moved to Louisville. Her father, Erbon Powers Sawyer, was a county judge and Republican politician.
