Dick Elliott (1886-1961) was an American character actor known for his roles in over 240 films from the 1930s until his death. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Elliott often portrayed blustery characters, including politicians. He was a short, fat man and famously played Santa Claus on various television programs. One of his notable performances was in the film It's a Wonderful Life (1946) where he scolded James Stewart's character for talking too much. Elliott also made memorable appearances in episodes of the Adventures of Superman TV series and had recurring roles in sitcoms such as December Bride. He portrayed characters in Western series like Sugarfoot and Maverick. Elliott will be remembered for his versatile and impactful contributions to the entertainment industry.
