Richard Anthony Wolf (born December 20, 1946) is an American film and television producer. He is best known for creating the Law & Order franchise, which includes six police/courtroom dramas and four international spinoffs. Since 2012, he has also served as the creator and executive producer of the Chicago franchise, featuring four Chicago-based dramas. In 2018, Wolf expanded his repertoire as the creator and executive producer of the FBI franchise, which has spun off two additional series. Additionally, Wolf is a writer, having authored four books, including a non-fiction volume called Law & Order: Crime Scenes, and a thriller series featuring NYPD detective Jeremy Fisk. Wolf has received numerous accolades throughout his career, including an Emmy Award and induction into the Television Academy Hall of Fame. He also has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Wolf was raised in Manhattan in a Jewish household.
