Dmitry Chaplin (Дмитрий Александрович Чаплин Dmitry Alexandrovich Chaplin) is a Russian dancer, choreographer, and actor. He gained recognition as a Top 10 finalist on the second season of So You Think You Can Dance. During his time on the show, Chaplin garnered attention for his shirtless performances, including a memorable routine where he ripped off his shirt. In 2009, he received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for his choreography. Born on July 14, 1982, in Rostov-on-Don, Russia, Chaplin currently resides in Los Angeles, California. He attended School #8 in Rostov-on-Don, Minnetonka High School in Minnesota, and briefly studied at Brooklyn College in New York. Chaplin has been coached by Louis van Amstel since 2004.
