Hans 'Dolph' Lundgren is a Swedish actor, filmmaker, and martial artist born on November 3, 1957, in Spånga, Sweden. Lundgren developed an interest in martial arts at a young age and became the European champion in 1980 and 1981, holding the rank of 4th dan black belt in Kyokushin karate. In 1982, he began dating singer Grace Jones and moved to New York City with her, where he started taking acting classes. Lundgren gained international recognition in 1985 for his role as the imposing Soviet boxer Ivan Drago in Sylvester Stallone's Rocky IV. He went on to star in over 80 action-oriented films, including Masters of the Universe (1987), Red Scorpion (1988), The Punisher (1989), and Universal Soldier (1992).
