Don Bexley Biography
Don Bexley (1910-1997) was an American actor and comedian, known for his role as Bubba Bexley in the 1970s sitcom Sanford and Son. Born in either Jamestown, Virginia, or Detroit, Michigan, Bexley had a diverse career that included being an orchestra director, singer, dancer, stand-up comedian, and actor. He started doing comedy in upstate New York in the early 1940s and worked with notable entertainers such as Milton Berle, Danny Kaye, and Henny Youngman. Bexley also danced with Sammy Davis Jr. and was the first black stand-up comedian to perform in the Borscht Belt. He collaborated with Redd Foxx and performed in various cities across the United States.
