Don Cornelius Biography
Don Cornelius (1936-2012) was an American television show host and producer best known as the creator and host of the nationally syndicated dance and music show Soul Train. Born on September 27, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois, Cornelius served in the United States Marine Corps for 18 months during the Korean War before working various jobs, including selling tires and insurance. In 1970, he launched Soul Train, which he hosted until 1993. Cornelius sold the show in 2008 and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2023. He made significant contributions to the entertainment industry, particularly in showcasing African-American music and culture on television.
