Don Hertzfeldt (born August 1, 1976) is an American animator, writer, and independent filmmaker. He is a two-time Academy Award nominee known for his animated films such as It's Such a Beautiful Day, the World of Tomorrow series, and Rejected. Hertzfeldt's work has been featured on The Simpsons in 2014, and he holds the record for having eight of his short films compete at the Sundance Film Festival. He is also the only filmmaker to have won the festival's Grand Jury Prize for Short Film twice. Hertzfeldt's work has been highly influential and expressive, with a unique blend of tragedy, humor, philosophy, and hopefulness.
