Don Warrington

Don Warrington MBE, born Donald Williams on 23 May 1951 in Trinidad, is a Trinidadian-born British actor. He gained recognition for his role as Philip Smith in the ITV sitcom Rising Damp from 1974 to 1978. Warrington is also well-known for his portrayal of Commissioner Selwyn Patterson in the BBC detective series Death in Paradise, which he has been a part of since 2011. In 2008, he was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE). Warrington moved to England with his mother and brother at a young age and was raised in Newcastle upon Tyne. He attended Harris College and trained as an actor at the Drama Centre London.
