Donna McKechnie Biography
Donna McKechnie is an American musical theater dancer, singer, actress, and choreographer. Born on November 16, 1942, in Pontiac, Michigan, she began ballet classes at the age of five and aspired to be a ballerina after being inspired by the classic British ballet film, The Red Shoes. McKechnie moved to New York City at 17 to pursue her dreams. She is best known for her collaboration with choreographer Michael Bennett, particularly her role as Cassie in the musical A Chorus Line, for which she won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical in 1976. McKechnie also appeared on the Gothic soap opera Dark Shadows as Amanda Harris/Olivia Corey from 1969 to 1970.
