Doris Singleton Biography
Doris Singleton (1919-2012) was an American actress best known for her role as Carolyn Appleby, Lucy Ricardo's frenemy, in the hit TV show I Love Lucy. Born in New York City, Singleton started her career as a ballerina before transitioning to singing with Art Jarrett's orchestra in the late 1930s. During World War II, she worked in New York as a guest star on popular radio shows like The Whistler and The Alan Young Show. Singleton's professional relationship with Lucille Ball began during a guest appearance on My Favorite Husband in 1948. She later appeared in ten episodes of I Love Lucy as Carolyn Appleby between 1953 and 1957.
