He gained fame for his portrayal of Paul Williams on the CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless, a role he held from 1978 to 2020, making him one of the longest-serving cast members of the show. Davidson showcased his versatility by appearing as the captain of The Young and the Restless team on the game show Family Feud multiple times between 1989 and 1995. Additionally, he hosted a syndicated version of the game show The New Price Is Right in 1994.
