Ed O'Brien Biography
Ed O'Brien, born Edward John O'Brien on April 15, 1968, is an English guitarist, songwriter, and member of the prominent rock band Radiohead. He attended Abingdon School in Oxfordshire, where he co-founded Radiohead with his schoolmates. O'Brien's role in the group revolves around supporting the songwriter, Thom Yorke, by creating ambient sounds and textures using effects, sustain units, and the EBow. In addition to playing guitar, he also provides backing vocals. Recognized for his talent, Rolling Stone ranked O'Brien as the 59th-greatest guitarist of all time in 2010. As part of Radiohead, O'Brien was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019. His first solo album, Earth, was released in 2020, showcasing his songwriting abilities outside of the band.
