Eduardo Ciannelli (30 August 1888 – 8 October 1969) was an Italian baritone and character actor known for his portrayal of gangsters and criminals in American films. Born in Lacco Ameno, Italy, Ciannelli initially studied surgery at the University of Naples but later pursued a career in opera and theatre. He achieved success as a baritone, performing at renowned venues like La Scala and touring across Europe. Ciannelli immigrated to the United States in 1914 and made appearances on Broadway, including in Oscar Hammerstein II's musical Always You and Rose-Marie. He also collaborated with Theatre Guild, acting alongside notable figures like Alfred Lunt, Lynn Fontanne, and Katharine Cornell.
