Dame Eileen Atkins is an English actress and occasional screenwriter. Born on June 15, 1934, she has been actively working in the theatre, film, and television industry since 1953. Atkins has received numerous accolades throughout her career, including a BAFTA TV Award for Best Actress in 2008 and an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie for her role in Cranford. She is also a three-time Olivier Award winner, recognized for her performances in various productions. In addition to her stage work, Atkins has appeared on Broadway and received four Tony Award nominations for her exceptional acting skills. She was honored with the title of Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 1990 and became a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) in 2001.
