Elaine Marie Welteroth (born December 10, 1986) is an American journalist, editor, author, and television host. She rose to prominence in April 2016 when she was appointed as the editor-in-chief of Teen Vogue, becoming the second person of African-American heritage to hold such a title in Condé Nast's history. At the age of 29, Welteroth became the second youngest editor in Condé Nast history. Prior to her role as editor-in-chief, she served as Teen Vogue's beauty director, also marking the first time a person of African-American heritage held that position. During her tenure, Welteroth played a pivotal role in increasing Teen Vogue's coverage of politics and social justice, inspiring readers to engage in civic matters, particularly during the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Under her leadership, Teen Vogue launched its first YouTube channel, featuring diverse content on various topics, including campus style.
