Eleanor Reissa Biography
Eleanor Reissa is an American actress, singer, theatre director, playwright, librettist, choreographer, translator, and author based in New York City. She has worked and performed on English and Yiddish speaking stages, showcasing her talent in both languages. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Reissa's parents, who were Polish, survived the Holocaust and worked as sweatshop workers in America. She attended New York City public schools and graduated cum laude from Brooklyn College with a Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Theatre. Reissa received a Tony Award nomination for her directing debut on Broadway with Those Were the Days, which she also choreographed and starred in. Her notable directing credits include Cowgirls and Echoes of the War.
