Elizabeth Banks, born Elizabeth Irene Mitchell on February 10, 1974, is an American actress and filmmaker. She gained popularity for her roles as Effie Trinket in The Hunger Games film series (2012–2015) and Gail Abernathy-McKadden in the Pitch Perfect film series (2012–2017). In 2015, Banks made her directorial debut with Pitch Perfect 2, which set a record for a first-time director with its $69 million opening-weekend gross. She later directed, wrote, produced, and starred in the action comedy film Charlie's Angels (2019) and directed and produced the horror comedy film Cocaine Bear (2023). Banks is also the co-founder of the production company Brownstone Productions.
