Elizabeth Berkley is an American actress known for her roles in both television and film. She gained popularity for her portrayal of Jessie Spano in the television series Saved by the Bell and later starred as Nomi Malone/Polly Ann Costello in the 1995 film Showgirls, directed by Paul Verhoeven. Berkley also lent her voice to the title role in the anime film Armitage III: Poly-Matrix and appeared in supporting roles in films such as The First Wives Club and Roger Dodger. In theater, she received critical acclaim for her performance in Hurlyburly. Berkley was born and raised in Farmington Hills, Michigan and attended Calabasas High School in California. She comes from a Jewish background and had a bat mitzvah.
