Elizabeth Estensen

Elizabeth Estensen (born August 10, 1949) is an English actress known for her portrayal of Diane Sugden on the ITV soap opera Emmerdale from 1999 to 2021, with a guest appearance in 2022. She has also appeared in various British television series, including The Liver Birds, T-Bag, and Coronation Street. Estensen was born in Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham, and has Norwegian heritage. She initially considered a career as a speech therapist but decided to pursue drama and English teaching. Estensen joined the Everyman repertory company in Liverpool after completing her studies. She has been married to Philip Allen since May 1983 and has a son named James Otto Allen.
