Ellen Cleghorne Biography
Ellen Cleghorne is an American actress and comedian known for her time as a cast member on the sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live from 1991 to 1995. She is the second African-American female repertory cast member on the show and the first to stay for more than one season. Cleghorne has also appeared in the show's 40th anniversary special in 2015. Born in Brooklyn and a graduate of Brooklyn Technical High School and Hunter College, Cleghorne began her career in New York City comedy clubs and gained recognition after competing in the Johnnie Walker Comedy Search in 1989. She has been ranked as the 69th greatest Saturday Night Live cast member by Rolling Stone magazine.
