Ellen DeGeneres (born January 26, 1958) is an American comedian, television host, actress, and writer. She gained recognition for her role in the sitcom Ellen from 1994 to 1998, earning a Primetime Emmy Award for the groundbreaking episode 'The Puppy Episode.' DeGeneres has been the host of The Ellen DeGeneres Show since 2003, receiving 33 Daytime Emmy Awards for her work on the popular syndicated talk show. Her stand-up career started in the 1980s, and she made a memorable appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson in 1986. DeGeneres has also appeared in films such as Mr. Wrong (1996), EDtv (1999), and provided the voice for Dory in Finding Nemo (2003) and Finding Dory (2016), winning a Saturn Award for the latter. She served as a judge on American Idol's ninth season in 2010.
