Elpidia Carrillo

Elpidia Carrillo (born August 16, 1961) is a Mexican actress and director known for her roles in both Latin American and US film and television. She gained recognition in the United States for her supporting roles in action films like Predator, Bread and Roses, Nine Lives, and Blue Beetle. Carrillo received a nomination for an Independent Spirit Award for Best Female Lead for her performance in the film Salvador. She is also acclaimed for her portrayal of Tecuichpo in the independent film The Other Conquest. Born in Santa Elena, Michoacán, Mexico, Carrillo grew up in a turbulent environment marked by violence and poverty. Despite the challenges, she pursued education with the support of her eldest brother.
