Elyes Gabel, born Elyes Cherif Gabel on May 8, 1983, is an English actor known for his diverse roles in film and television. He first gained recognition for his portrayal of Dr. Gurpreet 'Guppy' Sandhu in the BBC medical drama Casualty from 2004 to 2007. Gabel's notable television appearances include playing computer genius Walter O'Brien in the CBS series Scorpion from 2014 to 2018, Dothraki warrior Rakharo in the first two seasons of HBO's Game of Thrones, and PE teacher Rob Cleaver in the BBC One drama series Waterloo Road in 2009. He also starred as Sean Tilson in the Apple TV+ suspense-thriller Suspicion in 2022. Gabel has made other notable appearances in projects such as Identity, Body of Proof, World War Z, A Most Violent Year, and Spooks: The Greater Good. Born in Westminster, London, Gabel has lived in both Canada and the UK, residing in Bristol and Manchester upon his return to England.
