Emily Procter is an American actress known for her roles in popular TV shows. Born on October 8, 1968, in Raleigh, North Carolina, Procter was adopted as an infant and raised by her adoptive parents. She attended Ravenscroft School and later East Carolina University, where she became a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority and worked as a television weather anchor. Procter then moved to Los Angeles to pursue her acting career and attended acting school with the support of her father. She quickly landed small film roles before gaining recognition for her portrayal of Ainsley Hayes in The West Wing and Det. Calleigh Duquesne in CSI: Miami.
