Eric Gibson Biography
Eric Gibson, also known as 'King' Eric Gibson, was a Bahamian musician and entrepreneur. Born on the island of Acklins, Gibson came from a musical family but didn't pursue music until later in life. In the 1950s, he formed the band King Eric & His Knights, which gained popularity for its modernized style of calypso music. The band performed at nightclubs and hotels in Nassau, where they also sold their records. Additionally, Gibson opened a recording studio in 1966 to support other Bahamian musicians. Apart from his musical career, Gibson was recognized as the semiofficial Ambassador of Bahamian Goodwill. He made significant contributions to the promotion of Bahamian music and culture.
