Eric Halfvarson

Eric Halfvarson is an American operatic bass, born on December 1, 1951, in Aurora, Illinois. He began his professional career in 1973 with the Lake George Opera, performing as Don Basilio in Rossini's The Barber of Seville. Known for his basso profundo range, Halfvarson has excelled in roles such as the Grand Inquisitor in Verdi's Don Carlos, Sarastro in Mozart's The Magic Flute, and Baron Ochs in Richard Strauss' Der Rosenkavalier. He has also showcased his talents in Wagner's operas, portraying König Heinrich in Lohengrin, Hagen in Götterdämmerung, and Hunding in Die Walküre. Halfvarson has graced renowned theaters worldwide, including the Metropolitan Opera in New York City, the Royal Opera House in London, and La Scala in Milan.
