He studied at Pembroke College, Cambridge, and joined Cambridge University Footlights. Idle achieved fame as a co-creator and actor in the sketch series Monty Python's Flying Circus and the films Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Life of Brian, and The Meaning of Life.
