Ethan Samuel Slater is an American actor, singer, writer, and composer, born on June 2, 1992, in Washington, D.C. He is best known for his portrayal of SpongeBob SquarePants in the musical of the same name, earning him a Tony Award nomination and a Drama Desk Award in 2018. Slater has also acted in various musicals, collaborating with renowned directors such as Kathleen Marshall, Barry Levinson, John Tartaglia, Bartlett Sher, and John Doyle. In addition, he will be starring as The Historian, Prince Herbert, and other roles in the upcoming revival of Monty Python’s Spamalot. Slater is of Jewish descent and grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland after attending Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School.
