Faith Evans is an American R&B singer, songwriter, and actress. She was born on June 10, 1973, in Lakeland, Florida, and raised in New Jersey. In 1991, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the music industry. Evans started as a backing vocalist for Al B. Sure! and Christopher Williams before becoming the first female artist to sign with Sean 'Puff Daddy' Combs' Bad Boy Records in 1994 at the age of 20. She collaborated with fellow labelmates such as 112 and Carl Thomas, and released three platinum-certified studio albums between 1995 and 2001. In 2003, she signed with Capitol Records and released her highest-charting album, The First Lady, in 2005.
