She gained recognition as the surly patient Mrs. Hufnagel on the drama series St. Elsewhere and as the raspy-voiced bailiff Florence Kleiner on the sitcom Night Court. Born in Jamaica, New York, Halop came from a theatrical family, with her mother being a dancer. She had two brothers, one of whom was Billy Halop, a well-known actor. Halop started her career in radio and transitioned to television in the early 1950s. Throughout her career, she appeared in numerous TV shows, leaving a lasting impact on the industry.
