Florence Leontine Mary Welch is a British-American singer and songwriter, best known as the lead vocalist and primary songwriter of the indie rock band Florence and the Machine. Born on August 28, 1986, in Camberwell, London, Welch has achieved great success with her band's debut album, Lungs (2009), which topped the UK Albums Chart and won the Brit Award for Best British Album. Florence and the Machine's subsequent albums also achieved chart success. In addition to her music career, Welch released a book in 2018 titled Useless Magic, which features a collection of her lyrics, poems, and illustrations. She holds dual citizenship of both the United Kingdom and the United States.
