Forrest Griffin (born July 1, 1979) is an American retired mixed martial artist and former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion. He gained prominence after winning the first season of The Ultimate Fighter, defeating Stephan Bonnar in the tournament finals. Known for his tough and gritty fighting style, Griffin was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2013. He currently serves as the Vice President of Athlete Development at the UFC Performance Institute. Prior to his MMA career, Griffin worked as a law enforcement officer for the Richmond County Sheriff's Office and the University of Georgia police. Griffin, of Irish descent, holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Georgia.
