Frances Helen Foster (née Brown; June 11, 1924 – June 17, 1997) was an American film, television, and stage actress. She gained recognition for her roles in various productions. Born in Yonkers, New York, Foster studied acting at the American Theater Wing in Manhattan. She made her stage debut in 1955 and appeared in over 25 productions at the City Center Theater. Foster received numerous awards for her performances, including an Obie Award in 1985 for sustained excellence of performance. She also received two AUDELCO Awards, one as an actress and the other as a director. Foster showcased her acting skills in films such as Malcolm X, Crooklyn, and Clockers. Additionally, she had a recurring role as Vera on the soap opera Guiding Light.
