Frank Gorshin Biography
Frank Gorshin (April 5, 1933 – May 17, 2005) was an American actor, comedian, and impressionist. He gained fame for his portrayal of the Riddler on the live-action TV series Batman, earning him an Emmy Award nomination. Gorshin made numerous guest appearances on popular television variety and talk shows, including The Ed Sullivan Show, Tonight Starring Steve Allen, The Dean Martin Show, and Late Night with Conan O'Brien. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Gorshin was the son of Catholic parents of Slovenian ancestry. His father, Frank Gorshin Sr., was a second-generation Slovenian-American, and his mother, Frances, came to the United States from Slovenia. Gorshin's parents were active in Pittsburgh's Slovenian community.
