John Frederick Dryer, born on July 6, 1946, is an American actor, radio host, and former professional football player. He played as a defensive end in the NFL for 13 years, participating in 176 games from 1969 to 1981. Dryer achieved 103 career sacks with the New York Giants and Los Angeles Rams, and he holds the record for scoring two safeties in a single game. After retiring from football, he embarked on a successful career in film and television, most notably starring in the series Hunter. With his towering height of 6ft 6in and strong physique, Dryer excelled in action roles. Born and raised in Southern California, Dryer attended Lawndale High School, El Camino Junior College, and San Diego State University.
