Fred Durst, born William Frederick Durst on August 20, 1970, is an American rapper, singer/songwriter, and director. He is best known as the frontman and lyricist of the nu metal band Limp Bizkit, formed in 1994, with whom he has released nine studio albums. Durst has also ventured into the film industry since 2006, working on independent films. He co-starred in Population 436 and made his directorial debut in 2007 with The Education of Charlie Banks. Other notable films he has worked on include The Longshots in 2008 and The Fanatic in 2019. Durst has also made appearances as a super secret playable character in video games such as Fight Club, WWF Raw, and WWF SmackDown! Just Bring It. Born in Jacksonville, Florida, Durst later moved to Orlando and Cherryville, North Carolina. He was rechristened as William Frederick Durst after his mother's remarriage to Bill Durst, a local police officer.
