Freema Agyeman is a British actress known for her roles in various television series. She gained fame for her portrayal of Martha Jones, the Doctor's companion, in the BBC science fiction series Doctor Who from 2007 to 2010, as well as in its spin-off Torchwood in 2008. Agyeman also received recognition for her role as Crown Prosecutor Alesha Phillips in the ITV crime procedural Law & Order: UK from 2009 to 2012. She further showcased her talent in the Netflix science fiction drama Sense8 from 2015 to 2018 and as Dr. Helen Sharpe in the NBC medical drama New Amsterdam from 2018 to 2022. Agyeman has made appearances in other television shows like The Carrie Diaries and has also appeared in stage productions.
