Gaetano Amato

Gaetano Amato is an Italian actor, writer, and politician. Born on July 5, 1957, in Castellammare di Stabia, Amato has made a name for himself in cinema, television, and theater. He is widely recognized for his notable roles in television series like La squadra, Il Grande Torino, L'uomo sbagliato, L'ultimo padrino, Crimini, and Il coraggio di Angela. In addition to his acting career, Amato is also an accomplished author, with his novel The Witness receiving critical acclaim as a finalist for the Bancarella Prize in 2009. He has also written for cabaret, theater, and cinema. Amato ventured into politics as a candidate for regional councillor in the 2010 regional elections, representing the province of Naples. While he was not elected, he later joined the Five Star Movement. In the 2022 Italian general elections, Amato successfully ran for the Chamber of Deputies in the single-member constituency of Campania 1 – 07 (Torre del Greco), securing his position with 34.3% of the votes.
